SCRIBAL ARTS

ITMCTRAV Scrolls by Year

Introduction

When the idea for It Takes My Child was developing, it was decided that Court would be an important part of the event. We wanted to create a teaching court because we stressed when the good gentles called into Court would try to back down the stairs, etc. Safety is an important matter. We also felt it important to teach the correct way to approach the Presence and the proper demeanor to have on such occasion as one may be called into Court. So, we needed a reason to have a Court. Awards are a good reason, and we wanted the children to feel as important and as well-recognized as the adults in a Kingdom Court. As you may notice, this idea has survived, thrived, and continued to grow. Lady Thea was the first Scribe for the event in 2008 and continued to provide scrolls until she moved out of state. Her last set of scrolls were delivered by mail. Thank you, Lady Thea - you are in inspiration. I took over as the event Scribe in 2012 and continued the tradition of hand drawn scrolls on a vellum-type paper using gouache and India ink. The champion's names, at first were added just before Court, but as the number of awards grew we added names during court as the awards were presented as this helped assure correct spelling.

THANK YOU! Many thanks to my daughter, Lady Rachel of Ironwolf. who, on occasion, helped with the painting of the scrolls when I fell behind and she came from Calontir to help with the event.  THANK YOU! Thanks also to Mistress Jervisa and Lady Helena who helped with the adding of names during Court.
