I have been sewing since I made myself a pair of blue jeans, completely hand-sewn, when I was in 8th grade. My first sewing machine was a Sweet 16 gift that my friends all chipped in on. I first made garb for my family's foray into the world of LARPing in 1999 then working on costumes for a local community theater's production of Camelot. Several members of the local canton's group were also involved in the production. One thing led to another and we ended up at the Howell Balloonfest Demo in costumes from Camelot. One of the requirements for participating in the SCA is an attempt at pre-17th century clothing. I have made almost al the garb my family wears and have garbed other people over the years. Below is a sampling of some of the garb and accessories I have made.
Accessories
Upon the completion of our term as Territorial Baron/Baroness of North Woods we were to become Court Baron/Baroness and entitled to wear silver coronets with 12 pearls. These two leather coronets were my first ever leather projects and I learned a great deal -- still, I am pleased with the outcomes. My Kissing Camels are on the left and Aidle's is shown above just prior to its completion.
